Accidents will happen!
If something gets spilled on your carpet it is important to take prompt action to prevent staining.
You will need some clean white absorbant cloth or tissue. Cloth is preferable, as tissue tends to fragment very easily when wet, therefore creating another problem, however if tissue is all you have to hand.... use it!
Listed below are five basic solutions to help you tackle the problem, you can make these up yourself.
Cleaning Solutions You Can Make Up Yourself

Dry Cleaning Solution
Surgical Sprit

Detergent Solution
One teaspoon of gentle detergent for washing wollens added to 0.75ltrs of warm water.

Detergent and Vinegar Soultion
Add one tablespoon of white, NOT malt vinegar to the detergent solution.

Ammonia Solution
One teaspoonfull of branded household ammonia to one cup of warm water.

Final Rinse Solution
Simply mix one part white vinegar with four parts water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

Final Rinse Procedure
Light mist spray over treated area
